About us
Los Angeles Hormone Clinic assesses and treats menopause symptoms for women in Los Angeles and the surrounding CA area. The assessment comes first and the prescription follows from it, which is the opposite of how a good deal of this market operates.
Why we exist
If you have raised this before and left without a plan, bring what was said and by whom to your Los Angeles appointment. Most women arrive having been told their symptoms are stress, or that they are too young, or that hormone therapy is dangerous on the strength of a study published in 2002 whose conclusions have since been substantially revised.
Some arrive from services that sold them compounded pellets at $1,500 a year, or saliva panels that cannot guide treatment, or a monthly subscription that never involved a clinician reading their history.
The gap between what the evidence supports and what women are routinely told is the reason this clinic exists. Related reading: menopause symptoms, menopause reading and hormone replacement therapy. Closing that gap for women in Los Angeles means saying what the current evidence supports, including the parts of it that are still uncertain.
How we work
Before any prescription is issued. An intake form is not an assessment and we do not treat it as one.
Hormone therapy does not suit everyone. Being told that, with an explanation and an alternative, is a legitimate outcome.
Consultation, likely bloodwork and likely prescription, before you commit to any of it.
Three months, arranged before you leave rather than left for you to remember.
What we avoid
Every Los Angeles clinic makes choices about what it will not offer, and the three that follow are ours, with the reason for each. No compounded pellets, because they are unapproved, uncovered and irreversible. No saliva testing, because it is not validated for guiding this treatment. No dosing to a target number, because symptoms decide the dose.
And no presenting hormone therapy as a weight treatment. The trials do not support it, and a clinic that oversells one thing has usually oversold others. There is more in hormone testing, hormone pellets and weight gain. Use that as a filter on any Los Angeles clinic you are considering: what a service refuses to claim tells you as much as what it advertises.
What we offer
Assessment, treatment where appropriate, testing where it helps and review as standard.

Patient reviews
I had been waking three or four times a night for two years and had been told it was just stress. The consultation actually went through my cycle history. Six weeks on a patch and I am sleeping through.
What I wanted was someone who would talk about the risks honestly rather than sell me something. They walked through the clot data and why a patch suited me better than tablets.
The brain fog was the part nobody warned me about. Having a clinician tell me it was a recognized symptom and not early dementia was worth the appointment on its own.
It took two dose changes before things settled, which they had told me upfront might happen. The three-month review was booked before I left the first appointment.

Next step
Who assesses me, does a person read my history, what happens if the first dose does not suit, and who do I contact out of hours. Any provider should answer all four without hesitating.
Consultations are by appointment. Prescriptions are issued only where clinically appropriate.
